Il meccanismo è vincente, collaudato, ed assicura continuità e crescita ai ragazzini che poi, in futuro, avranno modo di inserirsi in prima squadra, nelle competizioni che contano. Questo è uno dei meriti più straordinari da attribuire all’alsaziano.
Che, senza smentirsi, si reca al Bramall Lane, per affrontare il quarto turno di Carling Cup, con una lista di 16 giocatori, la cui età media si aggira intorno ai 20,1 anni. Incredibile. Se non fosse stato per la presenza di Gilberto Silva, il valore sarebbe ulteriormente sceso. Ciò che non è diminuito, invece, è stata la qualità della prestazione, contro lo Sheffield United, squadra in grado di battere, l’anno scorso e all’Emirates, i nostri ben più quotati beniamini (ricorderete tutti l’assurdo goal di Nadè, andato via in fuga a Kolo Tourè).
Quest’anno la musica è stata diversa, e le seconde linee sono state in grado di imporsi nettamente, per 3 a 0, superando il turno e raggiungendo i quarti ancora una volta. L’Arsenal versione Beta si schiera con Fabiaski in porta; linea difensiva a quattro con, da sinistra a destra, Gibbs, Song, Hoyte e Diarra; quattro centrocampisti, con Diaby, Denilson, Gilberto, Walcott; e il duo d’attacco formato da Bendtner ed Eduardo. Già, Eduardo da Silva. E’ proprio il brasiliano naturalizzato croato ad aprire le danze, su un ottimo suggerimento filtrante di Bendtner, a sua volta pescato dal lancio di Song. Il numero 9 dei Gunners, con rapidità felina, controlla ed esplode un bolide dal limite dell’area che si insacca nell’angolo alto della porta avversaria. Pregevole goal, soprattutto tempestivo in vista della probabile convocazione in merito alla visita che ci farà il Man United questo weekend. Iniezione di fiducia che, ad ogni modo, servirà a lui e ai compagni, per giocare senza problemi il resto della gara. Occasioni varie anche per Walcott, stasera abile e sgusciante in posizione di ala destra. Lo Sheffield non riesce a vedere la palla per buona parte dell’incontro, facendo quasi intuire l’esito scontato della gara. Per questo motivo, la fine della prima frazione di gioco, si rivela essere il preludio del raddoppio degli ospiti. Raddoppio che arriva infatti al 50’, sempre per merito della punta croata: Eduardo è stavolta bravo a smarcarsi in area e a trovare l’appuntamento col cross basso di Gibbs, dalla sinistra.
Goal facile facile, ma sintesi di freddezza e opportunismo. Per lo Sheffield stasera davvero non ce n’è. Lo stradominio degli “enfant terible” di Wengèr è netto, e viene poi suggellato al 69’ da una perla di Denilson che, dopo aver raccolto con personalità la palla a centrocampo, avanza fino al limite dell’area di rigore, per poi lasciar partire un meraviglioso e potente destro. La conclusione del brasiliano viene leggermente smorzata dal roccioso Morgan, per poi battere Bennett per la terza volta. Finisce così dunque. L’Arsenal dei ragazzini terribili approda ai quarti, regalando ancora qualità e gioco di altissimo livello, tra gli applausi del pubblico di Bramall Lane. [/lang_it]

With an absolutely brilliant performance, this young Arsenal side confirms his potential and his great talent in perspective.
This mechanism will provide us other valuable players and resources to insert in the most important competitions. That’s one of the greatest credit of Wengèr who, without changing his mind, travels to Bramall Lane to face the 4th round of the Carling Cup with a list of sixteen players, whose average age is 20,1. Unbelievable. Despite of it, the quality of the game displayed on the pitch is at his usual level, against a team, the Sheffield United, able to defeat the Gunners during the last league campaign at the Emirates Stadium (we all remember the Nadè’s goal, quickly slipped past Kolo Tourè).
But this year, the music is different, and the reserves have been able to show their supremacy, with an outstanding 0 – 3, qualifying for the next round. This Beta-version Arsenal presents the usual 4-4-2 formation, with Fabianski as keeper, Gibbs, Song, Hoyte and Lassana Diarra on the defensive line; the midfield line is composed by Diaby, Denilson, Gilberto and Walcott as right winger; while the attacking duo is composed by Bendtner and Eduardo. Yes, Eduardo da Silva. It’s the Brazilian striker with the Croatian nationality to open the scoring party, after the clever assist of Bendtner, found by a long pass of Song. Our number 9 quickly controls the ball and fires a drive from the edge of the area, putting it into the top corner of the net.
Precious goal for him and his teammate, and a self-confidence injection for himself, in sight of the Man United, coming to London this weekend. There are also some chances for Walcott, quick and technically good as right winger. The Sheffield United is not able to catch the ball from our players, making it easy to imagine a predictable final result.
